Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Said to Feature Galaxy S5's Fingerprint Tech

While Samsung's expected September 3 launch of the anticipated Galaxy Note 4phablet is little over a week away, new leaks about the smartphone and other devices at the launch have made their way online. While last week the leaks detailed the handset's camera qualities, reports now throw light on the device's fingerprint sensor features and the rumoured SIM-supporting smartwatch.
The much-anticipated Galaxy Note 4 is being tipped to feature an identical fingerprint sensor and technology to the one housed on the Galaxy S5 and the recently announced Galaxy Alpha, with some additional features.
Sammobile explains the device's sensor system will include the Synaptics' Natural ID solution that splits the fingerprint sensor into two parts. While the first part in placed at the home button from where it reads the bottom half of the fingerprint, the second reads the fingerprint from the bottom part of the screen.
Fingerprint sensor features already seen on the Galaxy S5 (Review | Pictures), namely Screen Lock, Private Mode, Samsung Account Verification and PayPal Payments, are also said to arrive on the Galaxy Note 4. The device might also receive new features like Fingerprint Shortcuts and Web Sign-In.
The Fingerprint Shortcuts feature is said to enable the user to register a particular finger to open a particular application directly from the lockscreen. For instance, users can swipe a thumb on the sensor of the locked smartphone to directly open the camera app, and so forth.
"When you unlock the device with the registered fingers, you can make the finger shortcut to any applications or other functions directly from the lock screen," which according to the Sammobile is Samsung's onscreen introduction to the feature on the Galaxy Note 4.
The Web Sign-In feature lets users log in to a website with the help of fingerprint sensor instead of typing the ID and passwords each time. When users can log in to a website that supports fingerprint authentication, they will be given the option to enable sign-in via the fingerprint sensor, and can then register the finger.
Besides these expected new features for the Galaxy Note 4, Sammobile also tipped an upcoming circular smartwatch as well as a SIM-enabled Gear smartwatch.
As per the report, Samsung, just like LG, is following in Motorola's footsteps to release a circular smartwatch because of the interest generated in the Moto 360. Both Samsung and LG have square-shaped Android Wear smartwatches in the market, and LG on Monday teased the unveiling of such a device at the IFA 2014 show.
The circular smartwatch by Samsung is said to be under development and was spotted in a patent application by the website. No launch date for the circular smartwatch, or whether it would run Android Wear or Tizen, was detailed.
Coming to the SIM-supporting Gear smartwatch, which has been rumoured on multiple occasions in the past, will be introduced with the Galaxy Note 4. Previous leaks have indicated the smartwatch that can make calls will be called the Gear 2 Solo.
Samsung is yet to confirm any of the above mentioned details. However, the wait will soon end with the Korean tech firm's scheduled UNPACKED 2014 Episode 2 September 3 event, which is couple of days before the onset of IFA 2014 event in Berlin.
