HP on Monday has launched four new Windows 8.1 devices in its Stream portfolio, after launching the Stream 14 notebook earlier this month. The two new HP Stream laptops, the HP Stream 11 and HP Stream 13, start at $199.99 (approximately Rs. 12,300) and $229.99 (approximately Rs. 14,100) respectively. The two new Windows tablets, the HP Steam 7 and HP Stream 8 starts at $99.99 (approximately Rs. 6,100) and $149.99 (approximately Rs. 9,200) respectively. All four devices will be available in November this year.

The PC giant's Stream family of devices is meant to offer low-cost Windows options, and are part of Microsoft's move to counter the Chromebook threat.

The HP Stream 11 features an 11.6-inch HD display and HP Stream 13 features a 13.3-inch HD display, with both laptops coming with a touch display option. Both the laptops are powered (via Engadget) by Intel Celeron N2840 SoCs that are coupled with Intel HD Graphics, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC flash memory. HP says that the two laptops feature an innovative fanless design for cool and quiet operation.

HP Stream 11's battery is rated to deliver up to 8 hours and 15 minutes of battery life and HP Stream 13 has a battery rated for up to 7 hours 45 minutes of battery life. Both laptops will be available in Orchid Magenta and Horizon Blue colour options

Additionally, HP Stream laptops come with a one year free subscription of Microsoft Office 365 Personal which includes 1TB of OneDrive storage and a $25 (approximately Rs. 1,500) gift card for apps or games purchases from the Windows Store.

The two new HP Stream tablets - HP Stream 7 and HP Stream 8 - are powered by quad-core Intel processors and runs Windows 8.1 OS. Freebies on the HP Stream 7 and HP Stream 8 include one year free subscription of Microsoft Office 365 Personal with 1TB of OneDrive storage and 60 minutes of Skype each month. The HP Stream 8 tablet also includes an optional 200MB of free 4G data each month with no annual contract for the device's life.

HP hasn't revealed the complete specifications for both the Stream tablets, but Engadget reports a few specifications gathered at an HP event in New York - including an Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor; 1GB of RAM; 32GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable via microSD card (unknown maximum capacity), and Bluetooth 4.0.

HP has unveiled two Android voice-calling tablets in India – Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab. The Slate6 has been launched at a price point of Rs 22,990, while the Slate7 has been priced at Rs 16,990. 

Both tablets are powered by Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and have 5MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera.

The Slate 6 sports a 6-inch IPS LCD display with 720p resolution. The device is powered by a 1.2GHz Marvell PXA1088 chip and 1GB RAM. The dual-sim tablet comes with 16GB built-in storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Powered by a 3,000mAh battery, it supports 3G, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and GPS connectivity options.

HP Slate 7 sports a 7-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 800x1280 pixels. This device is also powered by a 1.2GHz Marvell PXA1088 chip and 1GB RAM. The dual-sim tablet comes with 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It is powered by a 4,100mAh battery and has connectivity options like 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB 2.0.

After launching its 11-inch and 14-inch Chromebook laptops at IFA 2014, HP on Monday announced its low-cost Windows 8.1 based offering, the HP Stream 14.

The Stream 14 is listed on the HP UK website as 'Available' along with a price tag of GBP 229 (roughly Rs. 17,800) and detailed specifications. The launch date in other regions is yet to be known.

As per the listing, the HP Stream 14 runs on 64-bit Windows 8.1 and is powered by a 1GHz quad-core AMD A4 Micro-6400T processor with a 350MHz Radeon R3 GPU (2MB cache), and 2GB of 1600MHz DDR3L RAM.

Aimed at competing with the low-cost Chromebook offering since it was first mentioned by Microsoft in July, the HP laptop features a 14-inch HD (768x1366 pixels) resolution BrightView WLED-backlit display. The HP Stream 14 also houses 32GB of inbuilt storage, with 25GB of Dropbox storage along with a 100GB of OneDrive storage on a 2-year subscription. The laptop also features a HP TrueVision front-facing HD webcam with integrated digital microphone.

The connectivity features on the HP Stream 14 include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, one HDMI port, headphone connector, 2xUSB 2.0 ports, 1xUSB 3.0 port, and one multi-format SD media card reader. Powered by a 3-cell, 32Wh Li-ion polymer battery, the HP Stream 14 measures 344x240x17.8mm, and weighs 1.75kgs.

Some of the pre-installed software that comes with the HP Stream 14 are McAfee LiveSafe, Adobe Shockwave Player, CyberLink Media Suite, Evernote, Netflix, Skype, and TripAdvisor.

Notably, the HP's Chrome OS-based counterpart for the HP Stream is based on an Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, and is priced aggressively at $299 (roughly Rs. 18,130) onwards.

HP has unveiled five new consumer devices at the ongoing IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin. The new lineup includes two colourful Chromebook models, two HP Envy 2-in-1 detachable hybrids, and the ultraportable 2-in-1 HP Pavilion x2. 

The new 11-inch HP Chromebook and 14-inch HP Chromebook are both thin and light. The 14-inch model is based on an Nvidia Tegra K1 processor and boasts "world-class graphics performrance" while the 11.6-inch model is based on an Intel Celeron N2830. Both models' screens have a resolution of 1366x768 and both promise 8 hours, 15 minutes of battery life. Both also offer Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac and optional mobile LTE/HSPA modules. 

Multitouch trackpad gestures are supported, along with HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. The two models also have front-facing webcams and microphones. The 11-inch model will go on sale starting at $199.99 (approximately Rs. 12,090) in either turquoise or white, while the 14-inch model will cost $299.99 onwards (approximately Rs. 18,130) and come in turquoise, neon green. orange or silver.

The new HP Envy x2 devices are available in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch models. Both are powered by the new Intel Core M processor and promise great performance as well as long battery life. The new design features a fabric-covered backlit Bluetooth keyboard which doubles as a cover. The 13-inch model comes with up to 256GB of solid-state storage while the 15-inch model optionally comes with a 500GB hybrid hard drive. 

The HP Pavilion x2 is a full-featured 10-inch Windows tablet with a detachable keyboard cover that can transform into a laptop. It is powered by an Intel Atom processor and promises up to 11.75 hours of battery life. 

The devices are expected to hit markets in the US in time for the holiday shopping season.
