Archos Launches Android and Windows Devices Ahead of IFA 2014
Archos, a French electronics company, on Tuesday launched two Android
smartphones (the Archos 45c Platinum and 50b Platinum), one Android tablet (theArchos 101 Oxygen), one Windows Phone 8.1 device (the Archos 40 Cesium), and one Windows 8.1 tablet (Archos 80 Cesium).
For now, launch countries have not been detailed - though pricing for all the products is listed in GBP, implying a launch in the UK. The company will further detail the devices at IFA 2014.
The two Android smartphones - 45c Platinum and 50b Platinum - are priced at GBP 99 (approximately Rs. 9,900) and GBP 119 (approximately Rs. 11,900) respectively and will go on sale in September, while the Android tablet - Archos 101 Oxygen - is priced at GBP 199 (approximately Rs. 19,900) and will go on sale in October.
The dual-SIM Archos 45c Platinum runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. It includes a 4.55-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixels) display; a 1.3GHz quad-core (unknown chipset) processor; 512MB of RAM; a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; a 2-megapixel front-facing camera; 4GB of built-in storage with microSD card slot (unknown size), and a 1700mAh battery.
The dual-SIM Archos 50b Platinum runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. It includes a 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) display; a 1.3GHz quad-core (unknown chipset) processor; 512MB of RAM; an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; a 2-megapixel front-facing camera; 4GB of built-in storage with microSD card slot (unknown size), and a 1900mAh battery.
The Archos 101 Oxygen tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat and features a 10.1-inch (1080x1920 pixels) display. It is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex A17 processor (unknown clock-speed) coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
Coming to the two Windows devices, the Archos 40 Cesium smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1 is priced at GBP 79 (approximately Rs. 7,900) and Archos 80 Cesium Windows 8.1 tablet is priced at GBP 129 (approximately Rs. 12,900). The Windows Phonesmartphone will be available in September and the Windows tablet in October.
For now, few specifications of the Windows Phone 8.1 device have been provided by the company - the Archos 40 Cesium is said to sport an ultra-clear 4-inch display and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor (unknown clock-speed). It comes in three coloured back covers - Yellow, Blue and Black.
For the Windows 8.1 tablet, the Archos 80 Cesium, the company has detailed an 8-inch (800x1280 pixels) IPS screen and an unknown Intel quad-core processor.
