Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Selfie-Focused Smartphone Launched at Rs. 15,499


Samsung on Tuesday has officially launched the Galaxy Grand Prime in India at Rs. 15,499.
Samsung is touting the device for its 85 degree wide angle lens on the 5-megapixel front facing camera, while there is an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera also onboard.
"Galaxy Grand Prime opens a whole new world of premium mobile experience for consumers looking at uninterrupted entertainment and multi-tasking on-the-go. Introducing the new trend of 'Groupfie', Galaxy Grand Prime features an advanced wide angle front camera best-suited to capture group images. With the launch of this power packed smartphone, we are further strengthening our Grand portfolio," said Asim Warsi, Vice President, Marketing, Mobile and IT at Samsung India.
The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM) Galaxy Grand Prime runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and pack a 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) PLS TFT display. The smartphone features a 1.2GHz quad-core (unknown chipset) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.
The Galaxy Grand Prime includes 8GB of internal storage with microSD card support (up to 64GB). On the connectivity front the smartphone includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, GLONASS and 3G. The smartphone will feature a 2600mAh battery. It measures 144.8x72.1x8.6mm and weighs 156 grams.
On Monday, the established Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom on a Facebook post suggested the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime would launch at Rs. 15,250 (MRP of Rs. 16,000).
